Home minister hails cops for tackling militancy
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said patriotism, efficiency and professionalism that Bangladesh Police have shown in tackling militancy in recent times have been appreciated at both home and abroad.
The home boss said this while addressing a discussion as the chief guest at the conference centre of Police Headquarters in Dhaka, according to a release floated to media by Bangladesh Police.
"The competence that you have exhibited in tackling militancy in Gulshan, Sholakia and Kalyanpur incidents has elevated the faith of people upon you," he said.
The minister expressed his hope that the law enforcement bodies will continue their efficient performance and will be successful in uproot militancy and terrorism from the country.
He also stressed on the fact that militants are changing their tactics all the time and urged the police force to enhance their skills to tackle militancy.
"People are by your side. We will combat militancy with the support of people. Militants cannot have shelter in this country," he said.
He urged the police force to beef up security for the foreign nationals who are working here in collaboration with Bangladesh in achieving development.
"Our friendly nations are by our side, and they are ready to help with enhancing the competence of our police forces," he added.
