HC issues contempt of court rule against education secretary, 3 others
A contempt of court rule has been issued against the Secretary of Education Ministry (secondary and higher education) Md Mahbub Hossain and three other government officials for not complying with a High Court order to provide monthly payment order (MPO) facilities to the headmaster of a high school in Noakhali.
The three other officials are-- Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Dr Syed Md Golam Faruk, Deputy Secretary of Education Ministry Md Kamrul Hasan and Assistant Director of the DSHE Durga Rani Shikder.
The HC has asked the four to explain in four weeks why they should not be punished for the contempt of court by failing to implement its order to give MPO facilities to Narayan Chandra Majumder, headmaster of Char Aman Ullah High School at Subarnachar in Noakhali.
The HC bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam issued the rule yesterday following a contempt of court petition filed by Narayan Chandra Majumder against the four.
Majumder's lawyer Humayun Kabir told The Daily Star today that the education ministry suspended the MPO facilities of his client on August 21, 2019. He filed a writ petition with the HC challenging the education ministry's order.
