Habiganj journos demand withdrawal of DSA case against 2 reporters

Star Online Report

Local journalists today formed a human chain in Habiganj demanding withdrawal of a case filed against two reporters under the Digital Security Act (DSA) on March 15.

Baniachang Upazila Fisheries Officer Mohammad Alam had filed the case against Habiganj correspondent of Maasranga Television Chowdhury Masud Ali Farhad and Banglanews24 district correspondent Badrul Alam and a few others with Dhaka Cyber Tribunal.

More than two hundred journalists from different print and electronic media under the banner of Television Journalists Association formed the human chain in front of the district press club at noon.

Habiganj Journalist Forum President Emdadul Islam Sohel claimed that the case filed by the fisheries officer under the Digital Security Act is completely false.

"This case must be withdrawn immediately," he said adding that otherwise, they will go for tougher movement.

Russell Chowdhury, president of the Habiganj TV Journalists Association, demanded immediate withdrawal of the "false case".
