Graft trial against Destiny officials to continue

Star Online Report

The Supreme Court today upheld a High Court order that cleared way for the lower court to continue trial proceedings against Destiny group officials in two money laundering cases involving Tk 4,200 crore.

The Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division of the SC Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed "no order" on the two petitions filed by Destiny Group Managing Director Rafiqul Amin and Chairman Mohammad Hossain seeking stay on the HC order.

There is no legal bar for the trial court to continue the trial proceedings against the Destiny officials following the SC order, Khurshid Alalm Khan, lawyer for the Anti-Corruption Commission, told The Daily Star.

The HC on November 24 rejected two petitions filed by Rafiqul and Hossain challenging the lower court orders that framed charges against the accused in the cases.
