Govt will take steps to set up ICUs in every district hospital: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today in parliament said her government will take steps to set up Intensive Care Units (ICUs) at every district hospital.
The premier made the comments while addressing the seventh session of the national parliament that took place very briefly this evening amid nationwide shutdown imposed to combat the spread of coronavirus.
She also said isolation units and hospitals dedicated specifically to treating Covid-19 cases have been gradually opening up at different divisions and districts.
Sheikh Hasina assured that there is no shortage of Covid-19 testing kits and urged countrymen to face the current situation with patience. She also asked people of Bangladesh to not be disappointed and pointed to the sorry state of many developing countries facing the coronavirus crisis.
In a speech winding up todays proceedings at the parliament, the PM also said five crore people will come under the government's food assistance programme.
"We will take measures ensuring no one faces problems regarding food," she said.
