Gang attack leaves four cops injured

Four policemen were injured in an attack by criminals in Boalkhali upazila of the district early yesterday.

The injured are Sub-Inspector Abul Khayer, constables Md Bulbul Shikder, Abul Hossain and Abdul Gafur of Boalkhali Police Station.

Md Salauddin Chowdhury, OC of the police station, said they went to Kharandwip area to arrest Doulat Miah, accused in several cases including those for extortion and mugging.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Doulat and his cohorts attacked them, leaving the four injured. However, police managed to arrest Doulat.
