Freedom fighter, brother, killed in Mymensingh road accident

A freedom fighter and his younger brother were killed in a road accident in Mymensingh's Trishal upazila last night.

The victims are freedom fighter Abdur Rahim, 70, his brother Abdul Mazid, 65, of Ujan Boilor village, reports our local correspondent quoting police.

The incident took place at Kanhor area on Dkaka-Mymensingh highway around 8:00pm as a Mymensingh-bound bus ran over the brothers when they were crossing the road, leaving them dead on the spot, said Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Trishal Police Station. The OC also confirmed that Abdur Rahman was a freedom fighter.

When informed of the accident, police recovered the bodies from the spot and handed them over to family members, the OC said.

The bus driver fled the scene with the vehicle, the OC said, adding that a case has been lodged with the police station in this connection.
