First covid-19 patient of Panchagarh dies in Rangpur
A former union parishad chairman of Panchagarh who was detected with Covid-19 earlier died at Designated Corona Isolation Hospital today.
Aminur Islam Prodhan, 65, former UP chairman of Sakoya union parishad in Boda upazila of Panchagarh, breathed his last at 9:00am, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.
Superintendent of Rangpur Covid-19 Dedicated Hospital Dr SM Nurun Nabi told The Daily Star that the elderly man was admitted at the hospital on Monday at 1:45am.
He alleged that although he was referred to Dhaka by Panchagarh Health Department due to his serious kidney complications, his family members admitted him here by withholding proper information.
Civil Surgeon of Panchagarh Md Fazlur Rahman said he used to live in Dhaka at his son's house for better treatment.
He came to his village Sakoya on May 15 as his wife died in Dhaka due to diarrhoea.
The Panchagarh Health Department collected samples from the dead body and the three other members of the family, including Aminur Islam Prodhan, and sent those to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Hospital's lab.
The test results given on May 17 showed that he was positive for Covid-19.
As his condition deteriorated, the Panchagarh health department referred him to Dhaka on Sunday afternoon.
