Star Online Report

The High Court today ordered the lower court concerned to finish the trial proceedings of a case against three alleged Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) leaders of Khagrachhari in next three months.

The court also asked the judge of Special Tribunal-1 of Khagrachhari to submit a report before it on the progress of the trial proceedings of the case against JMB leaders Abdur Rahim, Delwar and Yunus Ali after three months.

The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice JBM Hassan passed the order during hearing an appeal filed by Yunus seeking bail in the case.

Police arrested JMB leaders the trio on September 27, 2009 for setting up a training centre at Matiranga of Khagrachhari and giving training to the JMB members there, Deputy Attorney General Shaikh AKM Moniruzzaman Kabir told The Daily Star.

The following day, police filed a case with Matiranga Police Station against them under Anti-Terrorism Act and the Explosive Substances Act.

The trial court on July 24 this year rejected a bail petition of Yunus in the case.

Then, he filed an appeal with the HC against the lower court order, DAG Moniruzzaman added.
