Female student sent to jail for copying Kushtia DC’s newsletter

A Kushtia court today sent a female student of a private university to jail in connection with a case filed under information and communication technology act for copying and sharing Kushtia deputy commissioner's newsletter on her own Facebook page.

The girl aged around 23 years is a seventh semester student of computer science department at Northern University and is also a resident of Court para area in Kushtia town, reports our local correspondent.

Muhammad Musbirul Islam, assistant commissioner of the district administration, filed the case with Kushtia Model Police Station this noon alleging that the girl first copied a newsletter from Facebook page of Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Md Aslam Hossain.

Later, she uploaded it on her Facebook page using her name and sent it to her friend circle through Facebook messenger, according to the case.

The girl was involved in making various documents and spreading those through electronic devices impersonating herself as the Deputy Commissioner of Kushtia, the case statement added.

Recently, a physician in Kushtia noticed it and informed the matter to Khulna Divisional Commissioner and the divisional commissioner later informed the matter to the Kushtia DC.

Following the allegation, police arrested the girl from her residence this noon and produced her before the chief judicial magistrate court where the court sent her to jail, Golam Mostafa, officer-in-charge of Kushtia Model Police Station said.

During interrogation, the girl admitted to the offence before the Additional District Magistrate of Kushtia Lutfunnahar, the OC said.
