Father, son stabbed, robbed of Tk 20,000

Muggers stabbed a man and his son and took away Tk 20 thousand from them in Muktagachha upazila of the district on Saturday.

The victims, Shamsul Haque, 50, and his son Nayan Mia, 25, of Baniakazi village in the upazila, were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge Abu Mohammad Fazlul Karim of Muktagachha Police Station said a gang of 3/4 swooped on Shamsul and Nayan at Paratongi village while they were returning home after receiving Tk 20,000 in loan from a local NGO around 5:00pm.

The gang stabbed Shamsul and Nayan and snatched the money, the OC said.

Hearing screams, locals rushed in, chased the muggers and caught one of them named Sujon. Other gang members managed to flee the scene with the looted money.

Local people beat up Sujon, son of Kader Farazi of the village, and later handed him over to the police.
