Fake milk factory busted, two fined

A mobile court accompanied by Rapid Action Batalion (Rab) seized huge quantity of fake milk and materials used for making it from a factory at Andharkota village of Sujanagar upazila under the district on Saturday evening.

Acting on a tip, an operation team of Pabna camp of Rab-12 led by the Sujanagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer [UNO] Md Shakhawat Hossain raided Md Bakul Sardar's fake milk factory at Andharkota village, said Ahmed Ali Bishwas, duty officer of the Rab camp.

They seized 320 litres of fake milk, and 57 litres of soybean and four blending machines used for making the spurious item from the spot and arrested Md Bakul Sardar, 25, son of Tamiz Uddin Sardar, and Md Harun, 22, son of Islam Mondol.

The mobile court led by UNO Shakhawat Hossain fined Tk 85 thousand to each of them as they had been manufacturing fake milk with water, soybean and chemicals for long, the Rab officer said.

The accused paid the fine and promised not to make fake milk again.

The law enforcers later destroyed the fake milk and other seized materials.
