Expats don’t need to worry about visa expiry: Momen

BSS, Sylhet

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said that Bangladeshi expatriates in different countries, especially those in the Middle East, "need not worry" if their visas expire during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

"You [expatriates] don't need to worry…your visa will be renewed automatically free of charge," the minister said after the unveiling of a portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the premises of the deputy commissioner's office in Sylhet.

Momen said the government has taken all sorts of initiatives to resolve the problems of those expatriate workers who failed to enter the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with valid visas after the oil-rich nation imposed new immigration regulations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
