An expatriate, who recently came home from Kuwait, was killed by unidentified criminals in Sadar upazila of Meherpur district on Sunday night.

Police recovered the body of the victim, identified as Milon Hossain, 33, son of Abdul Hamid of Shyampur, in the morning.

Milon came to Bangladesh from Kuwait three months ago. He was building a new house in Banbibhag area of Gangni upazila town and was living with his wife Monsura Khatun, 24.

Milon went missing soon after he went out of his house riding a motorcycle on Sunday afternoon. The motorcycle was found in Jhinerpur area of the upazila around 8:30pm.

Police and Milon's family members searched for him the whole night, but could not find him.

Locals found Milon's body at a roadside ditch in the same area the next morning. There were injury marks on his head.

Being informed, police recovered the body and a hammer from the spot. The hammer was used in the killing, said Akram Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gangni Police Station.

Victim's family members alleged that Monsura has an extramarital affair with one Moazzem Hossain of Banbibhag area. "Both Monsura and Moazzem are behind the killing," they said.

Police picked up Monsura, but could not arrest Moazzem as he had gone into hiding.

No case was filed as of filing of this report at 5:00pm yesterday.
