Ex-teacher murdered

Police recovered the decomposed body of a retired schoolteacher from the septic tank of his house in Kukrail area of Sadar upazila on Tuesday night and detained four family members for interrogation.

The deceased is Abdul Gani Matabbor, 75, former teacher of Shirkhara Primary School.

The detainees are Gani's wife Mahmuda Begum, younger son Tariqul Islam, elder son Nazrul Islam and her wife.     

Police said the victim went missing for five days and his wife filed a general diary in this connection on Tuesday.

Informed by locals, police recovered the body from the septic tank and sent it to Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Md Ziaul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately, said the OC.
