Ex-army man hacked to death

A man was hacked to death by his rivals over establishing supremacy at Shashabaria village in Sadar upazila early yesterday. The deceased is Laku Molla, 63, a former army member, and a resident of the village. Zakir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said there was a longstanding conflict between Khokon, a UP member, and Laku Molla over establishing supremacy in the area. Following an altercation between the supporters of the two rival groups on Monday afternoon, Khokan's men stormed Laku's house at around 3:30am and hacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him seriously injured. Laku died on way to Gopalganj General Hospital.
