Elderly father beaten to death by sons

An elderly man was allegedly beaten to death by his sons at Shimulia village under Saturia upazila of Manikganj on Saturday night.

The victim was identified as Afaj Uddin, 70, of the village.

Locals and police said Afaj Uddin's sons Awlad and Khorshed beat up him with sticks when he refused to give them land. He was taken to hospital where the doctor declared him dead.

Locals caught the two sons and handed them over to police. Police later arrested Awlad's wife Morjina Begum.

Habibullah Sarker, officer-in-charge of Saturia Police Station, said the body was sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
