Early marriage bid foiled

Police yesterday foiled an early marriage bid in Puratan Bazar area of the town. Following a complaint to Superintendent of Police (SP) Shamsunnahar by locals, Police raided a house where preparation for a child marriage was going at noon. Police picked up Gafur Sheikh, 40, who arranged the marriage of his 12-year-old daughter, and Monir, 24, son of Abul Kalam Hawladar and prospective groom from the house and produced them in a mobile court led by Additional District Magistrate Amir Abdullah Md Manjurul Karim, who fined each of them Tk five hundred.
