Driver killed, 6 others injured in road accident in Jashore

A driver was killed and six others injured in a road accident at Gaidghat area on Jashore-Magura highway early this morning.

The deceased Sohag Hossain (35), son of Babul Miah, was the resident of Kotalipara in Gopalganj, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting police.

Of the injured, three are undergoing treatment at Jashore General Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Moniruzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jashore Kotwali Police station said the accident occurred at 6:00am when the bus lost control and hit a roadside tree at Gaidghat area on Jashore-Magura highway.

Quoting one injured Ripan Hossain, the OC said the bus lost control because it was speeding.

On information, a fire service team rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital where doctors declared the driver dead at 7:40am.

Ashraful Alam, on duty doctor of the hospital, said three injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital in critical condition.
