A "deprived" group of Bangladesh Chhatra League at Chittagong University allegedly injured a policeman and a loco master today demanding ranks in the campus' committee.
A group of 25-30 men first held the loco master of the university's train at Jhautola station that left from the Bottoli railway station around 7:20am, our campus correspondent reports.
Locals rescued the loco Master Md Waheduzzaman who was given first aid, said Mohmmad Shuruzzaman, a sub-inspector of Chittagong Railway Police.
Sub-inspector Jakir Hossain of Sholoshohor Police Station, who was escorting the loco master, was attacked with stones by more followers of the agitated group at Forest Gate, he said. Injured, he was undergoing treatment at the Chittagong Medical Hospital.
The BCL men had earlier given a 48-hr ultimatum to the central committee after the formation of the Chhatro League Committee in Chittagong University which was due to end at 11:00am today.
