Dense fog disrupts ferry service

Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River resumed after three hours of disruption caused by dense fog yesterday morning.

The authorities concerned suspended ferry services on the route for three hours from 7:00am due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

Four ferries lay motionless in the middle of the river, seven remained stuck at Paturia and four at Daulatdia.

Passengers suffered most as number of vehicles had to be kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing.

Ferry services resumed around 10:00am as fog disappeared, said Mohiuddin Russel, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha.
