Defeated candidates demand re-polling

Mayoral and councillor candidates of Tangail municipality, all defeated in the January 30 election, continued their agitation yesterday, protesting irregularities and vote forgery in the recent elections

Pro-BNP lawyers under the banner of "Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum" formed a human chain in the court premises yesterday noon demanding re-elections.

Speakers demanded to cancel the result of the controversial polls and hold a free and fair re-election. 

Meanwhile, defeated councillor candidates of all the 18 wards under the municipality held a press conference at Tangail Press Club the same noon, protesting vote forgery and irregularities in the elections.
