Death in Rab custody: Ain O Salish Kendra expresses concern
Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) has expressed grave concern over the death of a man in custody of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-7) in Chattogram on August 16.
They also demanded fair probe and justice, ASK said in a statement.
Citing the media report, ASK in their statement said Md Akram (33) died under Rab custody. The law enforcing agency said he was a mugger and was beaten by public during a mugging attempt and died later.
But his family members say he was tortured to death in Rab custody, the statement said.
Rab in their media version said they have conducted drives in different areas of the city along with Akram to arrest his cohorts. At one stage of the drive, Akram fell ill and complained of chest pain, ASK said quoting Rab's version. But ASK added that the version provided by Rab does not match with the statement of witnesses and family members.
Along with that, the executive magistrate who prepared the inquest report of the deceased said there were injury marks on the man's body.
