Ctg seller comes under attack for selling mask at low price

A stationary seller came under attack by another shop owner as he was selling facemasks at a low price in a local market in Chattogram's Rangunia upazila on Friday night.

The injured Md Osman, 30, was taken for treatment at Chattogrm Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after the incident, our Chattogram correspondent reports.

Local journalists and police said the incident took place at Malirhat area under Pomra union.

Quoting locals, Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rangunia Police Station, said Osman was selling masks at Tk 30 while his neighbouring shop owner Sujon was selling the same product at Tk 50.

Sujon then locked into an altercation with Osman around 8:30pm and at one point Sujon attacked Osman, leaving him injured, said the OC.

The police officer said law enforcers came to know of the matter through a Facebook post and the victim has been asked to register a complaint in this regard.

No one was arrested or detained in this connection, the OC added.
