Ctg court asks police to investigate allegations against Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury

A court in Chattogram today directed the detective branch of Chattogram Metropolitan Police to investigate the allegations against Gonoshasthaya Kendra Founder and Trustee Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury.

Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Salem Mohammad Noman passed the order around 3:15 pm.

Plaintiff's lawyer Mithun Biswas said, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has offended a community with his derogatory remarks.

Taking cognizance of the allegations (brought under Section 500 of the Penal Code) of defamation, the court has ordered an inquiry into the case.

The court also fixed November 19 for the next hearing.

Contacted, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury told The Daily Star, "I did not speak against any religion. I do not hate any religion. I don't know who filed the case. However, I do not think there is any justification for this allegation. Anyone who wants to talk to me can do so."
