Criminals set journo's bike afire

A motorbike belonging to Shariful Islam Jhokon, district correspondent of daily 'Bhorer Dak' and executive editor of local weekly 'Jamalpur Sangbad,' was allegedly burnt by unidentified criminals in station area of Jamalpur town early yesterday.

Police, quoting the journalist, said Jhokon had parked his motorbike beside Shihab Printing Press in the area at around midnight and was working in the press.

At around 2:00am, criminals set fire to the bike, said Abdul Awal, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station.

Being informed, fire fighters of Jamalpur Civil Defence rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

" We are investigating the matter and trying to arrest the criminals involved," the OC said.
