CRI celebrates Bangabandhu’s birthday

The ruling Awami League’s research wing Centre for Research and Information (CRI) rolled out a host of creative events bringing the life and works of Bangabandhu before the children marking his 99th birth anniversary and the National Children’s Day.

A varied assortment of events including a comic contest was organised, participated by around 70 school goers, at the auditorium of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the capital’s Dhanmondi road number 32.

Of the participants, six toppers in two categories, were awarded with crests and certificates while State minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, noted actress Joya Ahsan, CRI executive director Sabbir Bin Shams attended the function.

Another key attraction was the unveiling of the sixth installment of ‘Mujib’, a graphic novel series based on autobiography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the venue. A total of six more episodes are expected to hit the book market in coming days.

Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana, during their stay at the museum, visited the auditorium, complimenting the efforts placed by CRI to introduce the architect of independent Bangladesh to younger generation thorough such a animated method.

“Our target is to orient the children with the ideology of Bangabandhu in a more easier and communicative way so that they can learn his principles by heart and feel proud of applying those in their lives,” CRI executive director Sabbir Bin Sams told BSS.

The visitors for the Bangabandhu Museum also got attracted with the screening of a puppet show unraveling the story behind an eye surgery that young Mujib had undergone and started using glasses.

Moreover, “Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale”, a historical docudrama on the life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, was screened twice inside the museum in the evening.
