College boy hacked to death in Comilla

A college boy was hacked to death by unidentified criminals at Dirghobhumi village in Brahmanpara upazila of the district early yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Ariful Islam Sumon, 17, a second year student of Mosharraf Hossain Chowdhury Degree College, and son of Abu Taher of the village.

Officer-in-Charge SM Badiuzzaman of Brahmanpara Police Station said a gang of criminals swooped on Sumon while he was going to the upazila town at around 10:30pm on Saturday.

They stabbed Sumon indiscriminately and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to the upazila health complex and later shifted to Comilla Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures around 12:30am.
