A Dhaka court today placed Shamsul Islam--a constable of Detective Branch (DB) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police-- on a one-day remand in connection with a narcotics case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Yeasmin Ara passed the order after Pallabi Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Towabul Islam Khan, also the investigation officer, produced Shamsul before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.

Police yesterday detained Shamsul from Mirpur-7 in the capital after they found his involvement in an altercation with a Pathao driver. Police say they recovered 740 pieces of yaba pills and Tk 260,000 from him after searching him in the duty officer's room in Pallabi Police Station.

A case was filed against Shamsul under the Narcotics Control Act yesterday.
