Child marriage bid, one fined

A mobile court fined a marriage registrar in Sadar upazila of the district on Wednesday on charge of arranging marriage of an underage girl. He is marriage registrar Md Anwar Hossain, son of Kashem Ali Fakir of Kawlakhali union. Informed that marriage of eighth grader Yasmin Khanam, daughter of rickshaw puller Ilias Sheikh, was arranged, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, who led the court, rushed to the spot and foiled the marriage, said police. He later fined Anwar Tk 1,000.
