Child marriage bid foiled

A madrasa girl was saved from underage marriage following timely intervention of Phulbari upazila administration in the district yesterday. The victim is Sharmin Akter, 15, a Class X student of Darussunnah O Siddiquia Fazil Madrasa, and daughter of Mahbur Rahman of Masuapara village in the upazila. Moksed Ali, officer-in-charge of Phulbari Police Station, said being informed that the marriage of the girl was arranged, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Ehtesam Reza rushed to the spot and foiled the marriage, said the OC.
