Chased, drug peddler dies

Following a 'chase by police', an alleged drug peddler died after hitting a lamppost in Goyra Bazar area under Sharsha upazila of Jessore on Sunday. The deceased is Abdul Khalek, 50, son of Abdul Malek of Kaiba village. Family members said Khalek hit a lamppost while trying to escape during a chase by police at night and died on the spot. OC Md Moniruzzaman of Sharsha Police Station said on secret information, a police team raided the area and arrested Mazed and Laltu with 100 bottles of phensidyl. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, drug peddler Khalek tried to flee the scene and died from heart attack.
