Case For Torching Truck During Blockade

Charges pressed against 72 Jhenidah BNP men

Charges have been pressed against 72 BNP leaders and activists in the case for torching a truck in Jhenidah town during the countrywide blockade enforced by the BNP-led alliance in February 2015.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Aminul Islam, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge sheet to Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court in Jhenidah yesterday.

Former BNP lawmaker and district unit president Moshiur Rahman, general secretary Abdul Malek, Jhenidah municipality unit president Zahiduzzaman Mona, general secretary Abdul Majid Biswas, Sadar upazila unit president advocate Munshi Kamal Azad Pannu, Sadar upazila parishad chairman advocate Abdul Alim, BNP district unit leader Aktaruzzaman, and former Chhatra Dal president Ashaful Islam Pintu are among the charge-sheeted accused. 

According to the case statement, the accused torched a truck by hurling petrol bomb at Chuadanga bus stand in Jhenidah town at around 9:00pm on February 2, 2015. Later, trucker Sabuj Hossain filed a case with Sadar Police Station.

After investigation for 13 months, investigation officer Aminul Islam  pressed charges against 72 BNP men.
