UP chairman lands in jail

A Jessore court sent a newly elected union parishad chairman to jail, rejecting his bail prayer in an arms case. Judge Ismail Hossain passed the order when Paritosh Kumar Mondal, chairman of Sundali Union Parisad in Abhoynagar upazila, surrendered to his court. Paritosh is a charge-sheeted accused in the arms case filed over the murder of Oliar Rahman, joint secretary of the upazila unit of Awami League. Oliar was killed on November 23 in 2014.
