UP chairman arrested

Police arrested a newly elected union parishad (UP) chairman from Bogra town while he was going to take oath at the deputy commissioner's office on Sunday. The arrestee is Abdus Salam, 65, chairman of Majhira UP in Shajahanpur upazila. Salam, also ameer of the upazila unit of Jamaat, is an accused in two cases filed under the Explosive Substances Act.
