Cattle trader shot by BSF
A cattle trader was shot by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Satkhira border early yesterday.
The victim, Alamgir Hossain, 40, son of Golam Mostofa of Satkhira Sadar upazila, was critically injured.
BGB sources said Alamgir along with 16 cattle traders went to India on Saturday evening. BSF personnel opened fire on them while they were returning home with cows around 4:00am.
Alamgir was hit by a bullet and admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital, sources added.
Dr Mahbubur Rahman of the emergency unit of the hospital, said: "Alamgir was admitted to the hospital at around 5:40am. The bullet went through the right side of his neck. His condition is critical"
Md Habibullah Al Baki, communication officer of BGB 38-Batallion in Satkhira, said the cattle traders went to India through Laxmidari border.
