Telecommunication and internet service of the Bangladesh Tele-Communication Limited (BTCL) has been suspended in Sujanagar, Bonwarinagar Faridpur and Chatmohar upazilas of the district for the last couple of weeks due to technical problems in the Power Controlling (PC) board, sources said.

A control card is needed to restore the service of the PC, but it is not available in BTCL headquarters, Md Sanwar Hossain, sub divisional engineer of BTCL, Pabna, told this correspondent.

Hundreds of BTCL customers in the three upazilas are suffering due to the lack of service, and official government communication has been badly hampered, sources said.

"Telephone and internet services have been suspended for the last couple of weeks. We are using mobile phones but we cannot make or receive important official calls," said Md Shakhawat Hossain, Sujanagar upazila nirbahi officer.

"We have informed BTCL and the higher authorities of the matter, but no steps have been taken as yet to restore the service," he added.

"A control card is needed to restore the service of the PC, but it is not available in BTCL headquarters," Md Sanwar Hossain, sub divisional engineer of BTCL, Pabna, told this correspondent.

"The control card has to be brought from China or some other country. The requisition letter for it has been submitted to the higher authority," he said, adding that the Pabna BTCL service started in 2003, but no maintenance work has been done since then.
