Brac official shot, robbed of Tk 16 lakh in Pabna

Muggers took away Tk 16 lakh after shooting a Brac official in Baliahalot area on Pabna-Rajshahi highway under Sadar upazila of the district yesterday.

The victim is Md Alim Uddin, 40, an accountant of Brac, Pabna head office. He was admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital.

A gang of 3/4 attacked the office at noon, shot Alim and took away the money, said Md Abdulla Al Hasan, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station, quoting the victim.

The injured was admitted to the hospital and he is now out of danger, the OC said, adding that they are investigating the incident.

Alim returned to his office after withdrawing Tk 16 lakh from Pubali Bank, Pabna branch, said Md Rafikul Islam, regional manager of Brac.

They filed a case in connection with the incident, he said.
