Boy abducted from Dhaka rescued in Dinajpur

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) rescued a six-year-old boy of Dhaka city from Birampur upazila in the district on Wednesday, five days after his abduction.

The victim is Md Shahidul Islam, son of Iqbal Quader of Korail in the capital, said a Rab official.

According to a case filed with Ramna Police Station, the boy was abducted allegedly by one Shaifiqul, who was known to Iqbal Quader.

Shafiqul then took Shahidul to a house at Ketrahat village in Birampur and demanded Tk 5 lakh ransom from the family for his release.

At around 8:30pm on Wednesday, the elite force with the help of local UP chairman raided the house of Shafiqul, son of late Md Moslem Uddin of the village, and rescued the boy, said Major Abdul Mahmud Al Razi, commanding officer of Rab-13.

However, Shafiqul along with his family members managed to flee, sensing the presence of the Rab men, said the officer.
