Bidyanondo to give away laptops, smartphones to disadvantaged students for online classes
Bidyanondo Foundation, a youth-led charity organisation, has announced that it will distribute free smartphones and laptops among students who come from families with financial constraints.
Hundreds of families will receive the gadgets in the form of gifts to help the students with their academic pursuits.
"We earned some money from the last Boi Mela (Ekushey Book Fair). Also, we sold books in exchange for old electronics. During that campaign, we collected more than 500 pieces of handsets and laptops," Bidyanondo said in a Facebook post today.
"Now we have started to distribute those," the post read.
Mentioning that many students are unable to participate in online classes amid Covid-19 induced closure of academic institutions due to lack of smartphones and laptops, Bidyanondo said it will be distributing these gadgets among them after repairing the devices.
"Those who have assisted us and took part in the mission of turning one's trash into another's treasure, our thanks go to them," the foundation said.
Bidyanondo also called upon those have unused laptops and phones at their homes to give those to needy and deserving students or send these to the foundation by courier for the same purpose.
