UNB, Khulna

A floating hospital, jointly set up by Bidyanondo Foundation and Bangladesh Coast Guard, started its journey by providing treatment to underprivileged people of Banishanta Polli in Dacope upazila of Khulna today.

The floating hospital was launched to provide free treatment to coastal people and people living in remote shoal areas, said the foundation's medical team chief Dr Hossain Karim.

The hospital with eight doctors, two dentists, and two eye specialists will provide treatment for the next two months in Khulna, Barishal, Chandpur, Munshiganj, Laxmipur and Noakhali districts.

"We've received an overwhelming response from people in Banishanta Palli," said Dr Hossain Karim, adding that they will also distribute relief materials and free medicines along with the treatment.

Bidyanondo Foundation, a non-profit organisation, was founded in December 2013 by Kishor Kumar Das, aiming to help the country's poor people.
