Bid to abduct college girl in Rangpur, 3 arrested

Locals foiled a bid to kidnap a college girl and caught three abductors at Betgari village in Gangachhara upazila of the district on Monday.

The abductors are Moyen Miah, 35, Mamun Miah,25, and Rashedul Islam,26. The angry villagers also torched a microbus used in the abduction.

Quoting local people, police said a gang of abductors tried to drag the girl, a second year student of Betgari Dhantala Riazuddin College, into a microbus while she was going to the college in the morning.

Hearing screams, locals rushed in, caught the trio and beat them up mercilessly. The rest of the gang members managed to flee the scene.

They (locals) later handed over the abductors to the police who took them to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
