Bid to abduct brick trader

A bid to abduct a brick trader was foiled on Bogra-Pirgachha road at Joshopara in Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

The trader is Jalal Hossain, 43, son of Syed Jamal Hossain of Pirgachha Shabekpara in the upazila.

Quoting the victim, police said a gang posing themselves as police waylaid the trader's motorbike when he was going to his residence around 9:00pm.

They later handcuffed Jalal, hit him with a pistol and tried to abduct him.

Hearing screams, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the victim. However, the criminals managed to flee the scene.

On information, police recovered a handcuff, signal light and two bullets from the spot, said Md Emdad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
