BCL man held with drugs

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a local Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader with Indian contraband drugs and 20 rupees at Burimari village in Patgram upazila of the district on Monday. They also seized a motorcycle, Tk 1,700, a toy pistol, three cellphones and seven SIM cards from his possession. The arrestee is Maruf Hossain, 32, general secretary of Sree Rampur union unit of BCL in the upazila. Maruf is a drug addict and works as drugs transporter on the border, said Ziaur Rahman, havilder of Burimari BGB camp. Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Patgtam Police Station, said Maruf was accused in a murder case.
