Bangla bhai ‘aide’ arrested

Police arrested a member of outlawed Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi today.

The arrestee was identified as Akbar Ali, 53, of Boro Bihanoli village, reports our Rajshahi correspondent quoting Selim Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bagmara Police Station.

Akbar, a businessman, reportedly funded executed JMB leader Siddikul Islam Bangla Bhai during his vigilante operations against communist outlaws in Rajshahi region in 2004.

Later, Akbar was involved with JMB and recently he was engaged in reorganising the outfit members, the OC said adding that Akbar was on bail in some cases in this connection.
