Arrest those who destroyed evidence: Rayhan’s mother

Salma Begum, the mother of Rayhan Ahmed who died after being tortured in police custody, today demanded the arrest those involved in helping prime suspect sub-inspector Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan flee and those who destroyed evidence.

She made the demand at a press conference held at her residence at Akhalia's Neharipara area in Sylhet city this afternoon.

"We are still in the dark about why they detained my son and tortured him in the outpost. The arrested police personnel are not giving confessional statements, which is also suspicious," she said.

She said her son went out of home wearing a blue shirt, but they found him wearing a red shirt at the hospital. "We want to know who did that."

She said police are yet to hand over Rayhan's mobile phone and wallet.
