‘Ansar al-Islam member’ arrested in Dhaka

Officials of the counterterrorism unit yesterday arrested a suspected member of banned militant group Ansar al-Islam from Kotwali area in Dhaka.

Muhammad Abdullah Al Amin alias Azmir was held from Court House Street area yesterday afternoon, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The arrestee is an active member of the group and had earlier expressed intent to travel to Kashmir with fellow militants. He communicated with them on Facebook and Telegram, police added. 

Police also seized a mobile phone from his possession.
