Another suspect sent to jail
A Panchagarh court yesterday sent another arrestee, who was on remand, to jail in the priest killing case.
Shafiqul Islam, judge of Cognisance Court-2 and also senior judicial magistrate of Panchagarh, delivered the order when police produced Babul Hossain, 28, of Kalirdanga village in Debiganj upazila before the court around 1:30pm.
Till yesterday, police have sent four arrestees to jail out of the six who were on remand for different terms in the priest killing case.
Earlier, the court sent Alamgir Hossain, 35, of Kamatpara village in the upazila to jail on Tuesday afternoon as he gave a confessional statement under Section 164 before the court regarding his involvement in the priest killing.
The court also sent Khalilur Rahman, 55, of Bhaulaganj village to jail on Thursday, and Jahangir, 30, of Kamatpara village on Friday, when they were produced before the court after completion of interrogation.
Criminals slit the throat of Jogeswar Dasadhikari, 50, a priest of Shri Shri Sonto Gaurio Temple at Debiganj's Sonapota, on February 21. Two devotees were injured as the criminals fired shots and exploded homemade bombs while fleeing.
