All 9 policemen get ad interim bail
A Gaibandha court yesterday granted ad interim bail to nine policemen and the manager of Sonali Bank local branch in a case for assaulting four employees of Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on July 2.
Judge Mohasinul Haque of the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court passed the order after all the accused surrendered before the court, seeking bail.
Those who were granted bail are, Mohammad Ayeshuddin, manager of Sonali Bank's local branch, Ahmed Raziur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, Ayub Hossain, assistant sub-inspector, and constables Saddam, Shahinur, Saimon, Abdullah, Bablu and Rakib of the same police station, and Rakib Hossain, sub-inspector of Gaibandha DB Police.
On July 5, a Gaibandha court issued arrest warrants against the accused for assaulting the four employees.
According to the plaintiff of the case, on July 2, Kamol Chowdhury and three other employees of the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court went to the local branch of Sonali Bank and deposited salary cheques of the court's employees and left the bank after collecting counter tokens.
Around 3:00pm, they went to the bank again to collect the cash but the bank officials denied to pay the cash, saying that scheduled time was over.
At this, an altercation took place between the two sides. At one stage, the security guards of the bank confined them to the manager's room and informed the police.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and beat up Kamol and his three colleagues, leaving them injured. All the injured took treatment at Gaibandha Sadar Hospital.
Later, Kamol filed a case with Gaibandha Sadar Cognizance Court the same day.
