AL men beat up cop

A police official was beaten up allegedly by some Awami League (AL) activists at Kabilpur Bazar in Chaugachha upazila under Jessore district on Sunday night.

Sub-inspector Jasimuddin was beaten up after he arrested AL activist M Mohsin and recovered some Yaba pills from his possession at Kabilpur Bazar around 8:00pm. The AL men also poured kerosene on his body. Some policemen rushed to the spot and rescued him, said locals.

SI Jasimuddin told newsmen that he was humiliated by Mohsin and his men after recovering some Yaba pills from Mohsin's possession. Mohsin is a drug dealer, he added.

The police arrested Sahikul and Alamgir of the locality in connection with the attack on the policeman.
